Also known as Collagen Stimulation Therapy, the derma roller treatment is a method that boosts collagen production for plumper, younger smoother skin. Treats acne scarring, lines, wrinkles, photoageing and stretchmarks.

Rejuvenate uses the Environ Medical Roll Cit and the Genuine Derma Roller for body treatments which are carried out by an aesthetic nurse.

Derma roller is a medical device with fine needles and is used to produce thousands of micro-holes in the skin, the effect of this is to stimulate production of fresh collagen in the skin which dramatically improves scarring and signs of ageing.

Your practitioner will use a topical anaesthetic to numb the skin making the procedure comfortable it will normally take up to 30 minutes for the topical anaesthetic to work and 20 – 30 minutes for the Dermaroller Therapy procedure.

After the Dermaroller procedure your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. This takes time as new collagen is formed, new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced. It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a natural and long lasting enhancement.

FAQs

How does treatment work?

The skin is like a photocopier and copies the damage that is left behind from trauma such as acne marks/scars/stretchmarks. Dermaroller is a way of reprogramming the skin and changing the structure so it will repair the damage.

The treatment uses a roller covered with micro-scopic needles rolled over the area in four different directions. The tiny needles pierce the skin causing a pin-prick bleeding and mild inflammation, breaking the connections around the scarring, allowing the new blood cells to repair any damage causing the scar to flatten and reduce as the skin naturally renews.

This mild trauma also stimulates the collagen and elastin in the skin promoting the production of new skin cells which will help to strengthen, plump and tighten the skin. This helps to refine fine lines and wrinkles, and improve the overall complexion of the skin. Therefore the treatment is suitable for all skin types.

As the treatment stimulates the natural cell turnover, we recommend a 6 weeks gap between treatments, for the best results you would need a course of 3-4 Dermaroller..

What happens during treatment?

In the treatment the skin in cleansed to remove any make up or product residue, leaving it fresh and clean.

A numbing cream is then applied to the specific area. This is left on the skin for 30 minutes, after this time the cream is removed and cleansed using an antibacterial cleaning solution.

The Dermaroller is then rolled over the skin in four different directions. Once the roller procedure is finished and skin is cleaned advanced Environ Vitamin Serums are applied to the skin. These ingredients penetrate very deeply into the skin as a result of the micro channels made in the skin from the Derma roller procedure thereby enhancing the benefits to skin rejuvenation.

What results should I expect?

The results after a course for acne scarring or stretchmarks will be permanent. For skin rejuvenation the results will last a minimum of 6 months. Best results are seen between 1 and 3 months after the course has completed. Results can be maintained at home by using the Environ Cosmetic Roll Cit, a home needling device which can be used at home on a regular basis alongside the Environ Vitamin range of moisturisers.

Does the treatment hurt?

The skin is numbed 30 minutes prior to treatment so once the Dermaroller is initially applied to the skin, you won’t feel anything. The more the area is rolled you will feel slight sensitivity returning. As the treatment continues you will feel a slight prickling sensation and the skin will start to feel warm. We are looking for redness and blood spotting from the skin as this shows the treatment is working. The pracitioner will continually check throughout the treatment if you feel any pain or discomfort.

Is there any down time?

After the treatment your skin will be warm, red and tingly. There can also be some mild swelling which can last 3-4 days. The treated area may become dry and sometimes flaky which can last between 2 and 7 days.

After 1-3 weeks the skins texture and tone will improve. After this time the pigment will also change. After 6 weeks you’ll notice an improvement to the appearance of lines, wrinkles and scarring.
